Hurley Vinyard

Hurley Vinyard

Tricia Byrnes and Kevin Bell first planted vines at their Balnarring property in 1998 with the sole intention of creating three single vineyard pinot noirs. Their philosophy centres around respect of the environment as they see their most important role is viticulture. Their wines are from three separate vineyards with slightly different aspects that are planted with different clones of pinot noir. All their wines spend 18 months in oak (new) and a further 12 months in bottle prior to release.

About the Winemakers

Their wines are grown in three separate vineyards with slightly different aspects that are planted with different clones of pinot noir. All their wines spend 18 months in oak (new) and a further 6 months in bottle prior to release. All the Hurley Pinot’s show balance, elegance, and a fruit purity that show cases the individual terroir that exists on each of their individual vineyard sites.

The wine

Being situated on the side of a hill, it is naturally well drained, and as the aspect faces north-east, it gets the full benefit of the morning sun – a most important consideration in fruit growing in a cool, moist district – and it is immune from damage by strong winds, owing to the protective character of the surrounding country”.
